Iwatani’s “Cassette Gas Rice Cooker HAN-go” (hereinafter referred to as HAN-go) has attracted a lot of attention as soon as it was released in April 2021, and was so popular that it was temporarily out of stock. Since it uses cassette gas, it can be used outdoors, and you can cook rice just by pressing a switch like an electric rice cooker. This time, I finally had the opportunity to review it, so I checked the feeling of use and the taste of the cooked rice. If you are not confident in cooking rice at camp, check it out!
What is the outdoor rice cooker “HAN-go”?
Generally, gas rice cookers are said to be able to cook delicious rice because the heating power is stronger than that of electric rice cookers. The HAN-go introduced this time uses a cassette gas to achieve the finish of cooking like a general gas rice cooker. The rice cooking capacity is 1 to 5 go, and the number of times of rice cooking per cassette cylinder is about 19 times for 1 go and about 8 times for 5 go.
Let’s cook rice with “HAN-go”
Let’s start cooking rice with HAN-go. The best way to check the rice cooking performance is to cook white rice! You can cook up to 5 go in units of 1 go, but let’s cook rice for 2 go this time. In addition, it seems that it will be cooked in about 12 minutes for 1 go and about 18 minutes for 5 go.
“HAN-go” even at home!
HAN-go can be used indoors as well as outdoors. You can use it as a sub-machine for your electric rice cooker at home, or if you only cook rice occasionally, you can use HAN-go as your main rice cooker. In addition to white rice, it can also be used for brown rice, split rice, and germ rice.
It seems that there are quite a few people who want to eat freshly cooked rice at camp, but they think it will fail if they cook it in a pot, so they choose noodles or bread. Recently, a pot called “rice cooker” that is specialized for cooking rice has appeared, but even so, there is a little trick to heating so that it does not burn. There is no need to worry about that with HAN-go! If you do not make a mistake in setting the amount of water and the heat control, you will never fail. Anyone can easily enjoy freshly cooked rice at camp without getting stuck.
However, unlike household electric rice cookers, it is not programmed to include the soaking process, so it is necessary to soak the rice in water beforehand. You can’t make reservations for cooking rice, so you may not be able to use it in the same way as a normal rice cooker, but the fact that you can enjoy gas-cooked rice at home or outdoors is a big attraction. Also, it will be useful in the event of a disaster when electricity or gas stops, so why not buy one!?
